Important
Information
Please, make sure you book me in for barefoot trimming ONLY if your horses are calm, confident and relaxed around people and if they give their feet easily for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute.
If not, book me in for training.
If you're not sure if your horses are ready, just contact me and explain the situation and we'll work out the best way to proceed from there.

In most cases, I only need to spent from a few minutes to a few hours with a horse before I'm able to pick up his feet and trim him. But it depends on the horse.

I don't rush horses, I respect their own personality and readiness. I always approach and handle them with understanding and patience.
Moreover, training and trimming are 2 different things even though they are closely connected. Depending on if I come for the one or the other, I will have a different approach.

If the horse is used to getting his feet done with full cooperation, we can focus directly on trimming his hooves.
However, if the horse is not ready to get his feet done, I will first focus on the relationship I need to build, based on respect and trust. Trimming will come later.
Except for some rare cases, I'm usually able to gain the horse's respect and trust, and trim his hooves, in one single session. But some extra time might be needed.
Therefore I need to know in advance so I can organize my day accordingly and not delay my entire schedule.
Note that I'm a very busy man and I'm usually fully booked 1 to 2 weeks in advance. Also, barefoot trimming is ideally about maintaining a healthy foot, not fixing problems, even though I still spend a lot of time fixing a lot of problems !
Thus, contact me in advance so we can book an appointment in good time and be on top of the situation when it comes to the trim.
This way, everyone is happy : the horse, the owner and the trimmer :)

What you can expect from me
- Professionalism: I will send you a reminder the day before our appointment. I'm usually always on time and I will call you if I'm running more than 5 to 10 minutes late for our appointment.
- Knowledge and Skill: As your barefoot trimmer, I have a deep understanding of equine anatomy,
hoof health, and natural hoof care principles.
You can trust that I will provide expert and precise trims to your horse.
- Holistic approach: I believe in a holistic approach to ensure your horse's hooves are healthy and sound. I will consider your horse's diet, exercise, hygiene, environment and overall well-being when making recommendations for hoof care.
- Open communication: I am here to listen and discuss any concerns you may have about your horse's hooves. I'll keep you informed about the trim process, any hoof issues, and provide recommendations for ongoing care. I am here to answer any questions you may have and appreciate open and respectful communication.
- Empathy and patience: I understand that handling horses requires patience and empathy. I will be gentle with your horse, taking the time to build trust with them during each visit.
- I will give your horse all the time he needs so he can learn to trust me, get used to me being around him and trimming his feet so the trim can go easily and smoothly. In all cases, your horse will always be treated with calmness and respect, never with aggression or violence.
I will never lose my temper or my patience around your horse.
- Have the horses ready for the trim on time, ideally with clean and dry hooves.
- A clean and safe environment: Please provide a clean and safe area for me to work on your horse's hooves. For a successful trim, it is essential for me to have a place with a flat, clean and dry ground so the hooves can easily be observed and so they don't have to be cleaned again and again, every time they get down to the ground.
- To ensure the best quality of service, the place also needs to be sheltered if the weather is not good. We live in Denmark, which means it can rain anytime :) Trimming in the rain or mud doesn't work : everything becomes slippery, it is way harder to hold the horse's feet, and my tools won't work well and will get damaged and rusty. Providing a covered area will protect both me and your horse from the elements and allow for a more comfortable and focused trimming experience.
- Certain times of the year, flies can be challenging for horses, sometimes creating a dangerous situation for the trimmer. If there are flies annoying your horses, bring the horses in a shady area before the trim and use fly spray to keep them away. That will help your horse and myself a lot!
- If, for any reason, the situation becomes dangerous for the trimmer, the horse or the owner, or if the trim is not possible, I won't get angry at you or your horse but I'll have to stop the trim and we will talk about what can be done to solve the problem and reschedule the appointment until a better time when the job can be done safely and easily. Trimming a horse is already a hard job when everyhting goes well.
If something goes wrong, it can become exremely hard and dangerous and no cone should take any extra risks in order to try to finish a trim.
- Regular appointments: To maintain your horse's hoof health, it's crucial to schedule regular appointments with me as recommended. Consistency in trimming is key for your horse's well-being. In most cases, a 4 to 6 weeks trimming schedule is recommended in order to provide the best hoof care possible to your horse and see some positive changes.
- Regular exercise: Ensure that your horse gets regular exercise, as movement is essential for overall hoof health. We can never overestimate how much a horse needs to move in order to stay in good shape.
- Cooperation during trims: During the trimming process, your calm and confident assistance in handling the horse is greatly appreciated.
Working together ensures a safer and more efficient experience for all involved.
- Implementing recommendations: If changes are suggested in diet, hygiene, exercise routines or management practices for your horse's well-being, please consider implementing these recommendations. They are designed to benefit your horse's hooves and overall health.
Remember that I keep your horse's best interest in mind and all I wish is to help him in every way I can :)
What I expect from you

the best trim to your horse
